A motorcyclist was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital after a crash in the Waioeka Gorge yesterday.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called out at 12pm yesterday. A 54-year-old Tauranga man crashed his motorbike into a barrier in the gorge, he received lower leg fractures as a result.
His pillion passenger was thrown from the bike but received only minor injuries. The rider was flown to Tauranga hospital in a moderate condition for treatment.
On Saturday night the rescue helicopter flew a 57-year-old Tauranga woman to Waikato Hospital after a crash on 15th Ave, Tauranga.
The woman was a pillion passenger on a motorbike which crashed. She was taken by St John Ambulance to Tauranga Hospital and later flown to Waikato Hospital for specialist treatment for serious head injuries.
