A donation of $2350 was made to Victim Support's Christchurch Shooting Victims Fund following Saturday night's vigil in Rotorua.
The vigil was held at Te Papaiouru Marae at Ohinemutu and a collection on the night raised $1153.
Yesterday morning, that amount was matched by the Rotorua Trust, which also arranged for candles and collection buckets at the vigil.
Rotorua Trust deputy chairman, Tāmati Coffey, who helped organise the vigil, acknowledged the generosity of those who had come together on Saturday evening to share their grief and show their solidarity in the face of Friday's unprecedented tragedy.
"It was really special to see people come together and show their respect for our Muslim community.
