One man has been taken to Rotorua Hospital in a critical condition after a medical event near the Hemo Rd roundabout this morning.
Fire, police and ambulance services were called to the scene about 8.40am today.
Traffic was backed up on the State Highway 5 and police were at the scene directing traffic.
Ambulance spokesperson confirmed it was a motor vehicle accident and had taken the man to the Rotorua Hospital.
