This week the New Zealand Maori Arts and Craft Institute celebrations will focus on manutukutuku, or Maori kite flying, which was one way Maori would traditionally communicate spiritually with the heavens.
The Te Iwa o Matariki Jojo Super 9 Kapa Haka competition, in memory of Jojo Waaka, will begin on Wednesday, with teams of nine taking to the stage before the finals on Friday.
Manutukutuku (kite making), until Friday between 9am and 4pm at Te Whare Tapere.
