A man charged with robbing a woman of cash in front of her children as well as a separate incident of taking a car with a child inside will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.
The 30-year-old from Rotorua appeared in the Rotorua District Court before a Justice of the Peace on Saturday charged with robbing a woman of $300 near the ASB money machine in Rotorua on April 18.
He also faces charges of taking a Toyota Caldina vehicle and abandoning a 2-year-old relating to an incident in Rotorua on April 24.
He was remanded in custody and will reappear via audio visual link on May 23 for a bail application and to enter pleas to the charges.
