A 20-year-old Rotorua man has appeared in the Rotorua District Court charged with the murder of Polish man Roman Skorek.
The man, who has been granted interim name suppression, made a brief appearance before Justices of the Peace Ron Hope and Phill Aitken yesterday morning and did not enter a plea.
The man, who was wearing a blue boiler suit, has been remanded in custody until February 2 when a bail application is expected to be made.
The man was represented by duty solicitor Tim Barclay who told the court time was needed for a lawyer to be assigned to the man and applied for name suppression.
Mr Hope said he would grant name suppression until the man's next appearance when suppression would have to be argued.
