Rotorua's BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was sent to Iwitahi, south-east of Taupo, to retrieve a man who had fallen from his motorbike and fractured his leg.
A press release sent to the Rotorua Daily Post said the man was a 51-year-old from Auckland competing in a motocross event this afternoon.
On-site medics were transported to the man's location making him comfortable, before the helicopter arrived.
Due to the remote location and the man's injury, it was considered best for the helicopter to transport him to Rotorua hospital.
