Late Te Arawa educator Beverly Anaru will be honoured again this year at the presentation ceremony for the Beverley Anaru Memorial Scholarships.

The ceremony will take place at St Faith's Church tomorrow night with eight tertiary students who whakapapa to Te Arawa receiving scholarships.

Last year was the first time the awards had been given out and it was worth a total of $40,000.

Teaching and education was a passion for Beverly who was awarded a Queen's Service Medal for her services to education and was also recognised with a Multi Service Teaching award for reading and language.

The scholarship was established by her whanau to continue the legacy of her contribution and commitment to education and the growth, development of Te Arawa iwi, hapu and whanau.

Her widower Pita Anaru will give a speech at the ceremony alongside Geyser Foundation chairman Pat Brown.

Niece Tiweka Anaru has been part of the trust arranging the ceremony.

"For Uncle Pita, he feels very proud to be doing it and for him it's a really good way for everybody to remember Aunty Bev.

"In her honour we want to increase the achievement of our Te Arawa students and to give them opportunities to reach their full potential."
