Rotorua businesses are enjoying a period of growth and don't expect today's Budget to change that, according to a leading local businessman.

Rotorua Chamber of Commerce president John McRae, a partner at Deloitte Rotorua, told the Rotorua Daily Post the fact people seemed less engaged with this year's Budget was a positive sign.

"I think all of us are just getting on with the work at hand and we're confident there won't be any major changes to disrupt that," he said.

"Everyone's busy and enjoying the growth we've had."

Mr McRae said no change was what people were really looking for.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," he said.

Destination Rotorua chief executive Michelle Templer hoped to see decisions that built business, increased household confidence and continued to support Rotorua's major sectors.

"Increased investment in major infrastructure is a key component of supporting growth and development," she said.

"The positive impact that infrastructure projects have on the broader community, such as improvement in travel times, broadband access and visitor services, are substantial."

Small business owner Ash Rewita at Black Owl tattoo parlour hadn't given any thought to the Budget.

"I'd like to see money in the Budget going towards services which actually help people," he said.

"Prices just keep going up. I don't want to put my prices up, but I might have to."
