Rotorua Tulip Fest 2015 kicked off today, starting a 10-day spring celebration of all things garden and floral - with a special focus on tulips, of course.
Rotorua Lakes Council's planting of 40,000 tulips bulbs earlier in the year have produced a bright and colourful display along city streets, and in gardens and parks, just in time for the festival. Many city retailers have added tulips to their store decorations.
Down at the city's Lakefront, people have been enjoying taking photos of friends and families through the 'living picture frame,' which has seen its regular native foliage temporarily replaced with flowering tulips plants to coincide with the festival.
