Vaccine rollout lags behind
Looking at Covid-19 vaccination levels in some parts of the world it is obvious we have not done as well as some other countries.
Singapore, which has had very low numbers of fatalities, has already given more than 4 million vaccine doses and is well on the way to reaching a safe level of vaccinated citizens.
It is working on plans to open its borders to other countries with high levels of vaccination and low case numbers.
China has given more than 700 million vaccinations and has negligible current Covid-19 cases. It is vaccinating 20 million people every day.
Even a return of vaccinated Covid-tested Chinese students would be a great benefit to our small economy.
It seems we will be missing out on the financial advantage to safely open our borders to vaccinated travellers and overseas students due to the low levels of vaccinations.
