Cell phones an intrusive invention
There are several inventions that we hold dear and valuable today, some are life-saving, some just convenient, there is, however, one invention that is intrusive, rude, disruptive, and extremely - in some cases -dangerous: the mobile or cell phone.
We are all aware of the hazard caused by the use of phones while driving, and I venture to say many are guilty of the transgression. The other point, one that crops up often at the many groups I belong to - is cell phones not being switched off during meetings.
This often interrupts a train of thought or a speech, or a peaceful moment spent writing.
Some may feel that their lives will in some way suffer if their phone is not clasped tightly to their ear, I believe otherwise.
My phone is there - like the telephone box of old - at my convenience, there for me to use to call others and to make myself available to wife and children -most of the time it is switched off!
Many will disagree but the sight of people sitting at a restaurant table, with company, chatting away on a phone infuriates me - so rude and vulgar.
