Letters to the editor: Endless road repairs damaging vehicles

I'm sure I'm not the only person utterly frustrated by the endless repairs to the Tarukenga section of SH5.

Following yet another hit from a large angular stone and more paint chipped from my car, I am absolutely annoyed.

The roadworks must have been ongoing for almost half a year.

I'm not complaining about the time it takes to negotiate the works but the continuing damage to personal vehicles.

The alternate route to consider leaves us vulnerable to speeding clowns on narrow Dalbeth Rd.

This section of road has always had potholes because it was never built to accommodate the ever-growing number of trucks.

Inaccurate

The headline, City ratepayers group in turmoil (News, March 10) was inaccurate in the sense that 71 per cent of the 730 current RDRR members and associates are resident in Rotorua city, another 21 per cent reside in rural areas and 8 per cent live in the lakes area.

This justifies the group's name – Rotorua District Residents and Ratepayers – and being heard on that basis.
