A reader says Rotorua does not need another fast food outlet. Photo / File

Just looking at the headlines into Monday's paper (Local News, August 28) yet another fast food joint is coming to town.

The town needs this like a hole in the head. We are being overrun by fast food places, everywhere you go we see these popping up,

These places do
nothing for a healthy lifestyle just a quick fatty fix that adds to an already expanding waistline.

Still there could be an upside. A few years ago I read about motor vehicles running on the waste fat from fast food places.

Council spending

I could not agree more with Paddi Hodgkiss (Letters, August 27, the council needs to prioritise its spending.

Who knows what global warming is going to bring?

Being an inland town might mean we escape rising sea levels but we've found out we do not escape flooding.

The council needs to be putting aside monies for a rainy day.

I noticed when I arrived four years ago that pavements in general are in poor repair. I do not mind being a ratepayer, but please spend it prudently.

Museum a priority
Does anybody know what is happening about the Rotorua museum?

Being one of the major attractions of the town I would have thought that this council would have made it a priority - instead of dreaming up other ways to increase our debt with unnecessary extravagances such as painting the lakefront.

Was the museum insured against damage -sufficiently insured? If not, why not?

Or is this another example of the extraordinary way this council operates?
