Ode to the PostShop.
The removal of our PostShop, from the CBD,
has me really angered, like a sting from a bee.
Why Would They Do This?
I love writing letters and parcels for to post,
for these I need wrappers, but mainly stamps, most.
I'm lucky I have a computer, all my letters I do type,
Well, 5 pages of A4s is a lot of words to write.
Sometimes it's green slips, which need my attention,
overseas mail, you see, is also worth a mention.
The counter staff are lovely, they really know their stuff,
Oh how I love their banter, makes me kinda chuffed.
Tourists from around the world, also gather at the shop.
They want to send their postcards, before their next stop.
For them it's like a landmark to get their bearings from,
without the PostShop in the CBD, how will they get on?
And what about our oldies with no technical devices,
letters are their lifelines, the closure will deprive them.
For those using walkers, why make it harder still,
Listen up, New Zealand Post - convenience is goodwill.
So, come on Rotorua wake up and heed the call,
our CBD is dying and about to hit the wall.
We need this vital service, convenient where it is,
Let's win the award for tradition – don't let it be dismissed.
