SH30 farm entrance
I find it interesting after all the mayhem on our roads recently that some one in their wisdom has allowed a new entrance into a farm paddock to be built right in the middle of a bend on State Highway 30.
Out by Lake Rotoiti opposite Moose Lodge a new gateway has been built in a 100km/h area right on a bend when there is a straight stretch of road about 1km long around the bend.
Surely common sense would be to put the gateway halfway along this straight where motorists can see trucks (as this is what I suspect the gate is for) as they turn from a reasonable distance thereby allowing time to slow down instead of coming round a bend
with little warning of what is ahead.
To put a gate further up the road would require a bit of bush to be cleared but I think people's lives matter more than a small patch of bush.

Theft is theft
Ngarimu Simpkins (Local News, March 17) had every right to chase those boys.
Theft is theft - especially from your house
Sure, he might have gone over the top a bit but that's understandable isn't it?
So give the guy a break and that includes the media.
I'm sure he regrets what he did. Everybody deserves a second chance or is that only for the rich and famous who use fancy lawyers to get off?
He obviously loves working with the kids.

Ngongotaha buyers
The speculators will be lining up to buy most of the new houses, planned for Ngongotaha, bidding the prices up substantially in the process.
Rich Aucklanders will soak up the rest, leaving the average Rotorua soul renting the same grotty, cockroach-infested hovel they currently live in.
I understand caravans are the thing.
