Reference on Saturday's front page (January 28) on speeding.
Rotorua seems to have no speed checking devices either fixed or portable in the area and one wonders just how many motorists could be confident that their speedometers read correctly?
No WOF or such does cover that factor and one could assume with many older vehicles on the roads that incorrect speedo reading may be contributing to the number of speeding fines being presently issued.
I believe the relevant authorities are duty bound to at least provide the motoring public in this area with the means to check their vehicles' speedometer as is the case in other centres in the North Island so as to avoid unwanted fines.
