Letters: English not the spoilt child

Under the headline 'English's Choice Questioned' (Rotorua Daily Post, January 10) a Ngapuhi kamatua says Prime Minister English should 'not be a spoilt child' referring to Mr English's decision to celebrate Waitangi Day elsewhere.

Who is the spoilt child here? Certainly not Mr English. I ask you - if there is to be a large celebration, and the Prime Minister is not permitted to speak, and with missiles flying right and left would you attend? Not likely.

What a great article by Rachel Stewart (Rotorua Daily Post, December 26) "Who will stand up to dairying?"

Yes I agree. Dairying is destroying our beautiful lakes and rivers. Nothing is more important than a clean and healthy environment, but alas greed and overpopulation is taking its toll on our planet.

I see the mayor is calling for positivity, well she needs her own words wasting money on Crankworx.

In my opinion we will never see one dollar back and it only disrupts a large populated area with its noise, cars blocking streets. Send it out of town, Mount Tarawera or Rainbow Mountain anywhere but where it is.

The mayor should spend our rates on the roads in Rotorua that will benefit all, just about every manhole cover is way below the road surface, she should spend our rates on getting competent road repair people who know what to do. Then maybe this council may get some support other than one section of the people that live here.
