I just wonder how many times the Regent Theatre aka Civic Theatre aka the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre requires to be upgraded.

Over the years there has been mega bucks spent on this building to bring it up to standard.

One has to ask what standard because it
appears the previous standards were N.B.G. (dear reader you know what it means).

I raise the issue because no matter how the administration of council puts it we are skint as far as funds are concerned and as a ratepayer I would like to see what money the council has spent wisely.

When will they realise the local bank of ratepayer isn't a bottomless bucket to be dipped into at will.

Holiday police patrols

Really sorry to hear about the mugging of Jane Newman outside the mall for $300.

In the past the regional Rotorua police commander has had a number of police walking the beat over the school holiday period. Last Thursday the school holidays started.

Perhaps the police have to have a look at their budgets and have extra police on patrol during the school holidays.

One holiday period I remember seeing armed police on patrol. There are too many empty shops already and Rotorua cannot afford to lose retailers from the CBD.
