A popular beach has reopened at the Lake Tarawera Landing after a sewage discharge.
The 50-metre-long area was closed by the Rotorua District Council last month after the discharge from a ruptured septic tank inlet was found.
Council infrastructure services group manager Andrew Bell said the whole beach was now open to the public and warning signs had been removed.
Lake water was now at acceptable levels of microbiological water quality guidelines and testing would continue to ensure it was safe for swimmers, boaties and anglers.
The split septic tank inlet had been replaced and the council was upgrading the drainage system to stop future water contamination. Mr Bell said the council appreciated the co-operation received from locals and visitors.
