A motorcyclist killed in a crash at the intersection of Rehi Road and Whirinaki Valley Road, Ngakuru, south of Rotorua yesterday has been named by police.
He was 42-year-old James Simerka of Ngakuru.
The Serious Crash Unit were continuing to investigate the crash, which occurred at about 5.15pm yesteRday.
ARotorua Daily Post reporter at the scene soon after the crash said a ute was on the side of the road, which appeared to have damage to its front left corner.
In a statement released this afternoon, police offered their sympathies to the friends and family of the victim "at this tragic time".
