How does your brain work? How much blood is pumped around your body?

These questions, and many more, are just some of the facts children of all ages can learn at the Rotorua Museum.

The interactive children's exhibition "Body in Action" is opening tomorrow and to celebrate there will be a circus-themed family fun day.

The fun day is free to all Rotorua residents with appropriate ID and is otherwise included in museum admission. Kids can get their body moving with some fun hula hoop and bokwa (dance exercise) sessions then meet Harold, the Life Education Trust giraffe. There will also be face painting and spot prizes for those who come dressed in circus costumes. The last time the exhibition toured it was in the mezzanine foyer and therefore was only a reduced exhibition. This time it is in the museum's largest gallery. "So we have the whole exhibition plus the extra stuff," said Rotorua Museum sales and marketing co-ordinator Kathy Nicholls.

"It will be an exhibition you can send the kids off to and not worry about them. We thought the fun day would be neat to kick off the opening day."

She said the exhibition would be open throughout the summer holidays. "Locals can pop in over summer and let the kids have a play around and still find something new to do. It's fun but educational. I brought my boys along when it was last here and they had a lot of fun. They're looking forward to it this weekend."

The exhibition is from Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History and will be on display at Rotorua Museum until March 15.
