Children, whanau and parents at ABC Monokia set off for an adventure to the Blue Lake with the Duck Boats.

As its tamariki had shown an interest for transport and exploring the wider community, the centre's two teachers had planned this excursion so the children could get out and about and observe what was around them.

Centre manager Martina Tomic said she believed the trip would "spark many conversations among our tamariki and provoke further cognitive development.

"We had amazing Duck Boat drivers who taught us a bit about the history of the Blue Lake and about the construction of the boats. We splashed into the lake and then raced off."
