Kawaha Point is to get a new playground for Christmas.
Rotorua District Council is installing a new playground at the Grand Vue Rd Reserve, featuring equipment not seen in the district before and provision for children with disabilities.
Work is expected to begin mid-October and the project is expected to cost $45,000.
The new facility follows presentation of a petition to the council by local residents earlier this year and the council's subsequent consultation with the wider Kawaha Point community.
Council landscape architect Rebecca Cray said the new playground would provide exciting equipment for children and cater to a wide range in age and ability.
