Students at Kaharoa School had a chance to see what a career as a scientist might be like at the school's Scientist for a Day event.
The pupils learned more about all kinds of science, such as soil science, psychology, predator control and kitchen chemistry.
On the day parents and community members went to the school and the children moved around various stations to hear and experience how scientists work in their jobs everyday.
Pupil Luke Richards, 5, said the best part of the day was hearing about Rotorua Canopy Tours and he liked seeing all the different jobs scientists do.
Mya Backhouse, 6, said it inspired her to look at different careers.
