He said the support from JPC parents, students and teachers at the final game was "phenomenal". It was on the team to control their own fate and the players were all up for it.
"The first half was one-way traffic, with JPC rarely out of the opponents' half, but the ball just would not go into the net, despite multiple shots from Anyssa Rimmer who scored 20-plus goals this season."
On the stroke of half-time JPC made the breakthrough. The opening came with a through ball to Imogen Poole, who wrong-footed the keeper and sent the ball into the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead into the break.
Bloomfield said the second half was a more even affair as Western Heights came out of halftime firing.
"Now it was our turn to defend in a much nervier first 20 minutes of the half. However, the team stood firm with Casey Vaughan, Frances James, Alison Yalong and Paige Wallace rock-solid in defence.
"Eventually, some creative play through the middle from Alliyah Baluyot, Dayla Taljaard and Kieran Davidson began to wear the opposition down and play returned to the other end."
JPC piled on the pressure and it paid off when they scored their second goal, from a corner.
As the cross came over the ball fell to Kieran Davidson who skilfully placed it once again into the back of the net. With a 2-0 lead the team were able to regain their composure and with some good keeping from Erykha Levae, claimed victory.
Bloomfield said it had been a long, hard-fought season.
"The girls have backed themselves all the way and have been a joy to work with. From our old stalwarts in Year 13 to our newer squad members, who have given us more depth and options, every player has played their part throughout the season.
"It doesn't just happen that a great team is created, but it is through the labours of players, parents and teachers that we have reached the pinnacle of our game – so special thanks to Mr Bell, Mrs James, Mrs Bloomfield and all the parents who have helped in any way with this team over the last few years. Special thanks to our team captain and captain of football at JPC, Frances James who has guided our team admirably on and off the field."
