The success of the first major event of Whakapapa's 2018 season has left the organisers "stoked" with the largest turnout "in a long time".
More than 140 competitors competed in the Whakapapa Mini Games in Happy Valley yesterday, a 'huge' turnout, according to organisers.
"It was great to see kids who only had a couple of days skiing or riding under their belt giving the course a go." Mt Ruapehu marketing manager Matt McIvor said.

He said the event was all about having fun and providing a safe and welcoming platform for kids who had never competed before.
The event was free for skiers and snowboarders aged 5 to 12 of all abilities.
