A group of 10 Rotorua Lakes High School netball players travelled to Tauranga to participate in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic parade, to celebrate them winning the ANZ Championships.

This was a fantastic opportunity to show our support to the team and be apart of a wonderful occasion.

It was exciting for the players to be up with the team prior to the march, listening to Laura Langman and Casey Williams talk about the win, and seeing the cup up close.

We also took great pride in honouring ex-Lakes High student Erena Mikaere, who is a pivotal player for the Magic.

The march down Devonport Rd was exhilarating, having the team follow behind us on vehicles while hundreds of fans lined the streets and waved. At the strand we listened to speeches and inspiring words from coach Noeline Taurua.

Overall it was an exciting day and showed how one's passion for netball, and determination to succeed, has its rewards.
