Rotorua pre-schoolers are getting their hands dirty to help fundraise for a national charity.

Porse Rotorua has taken up the One Day for Child Cancer Challenge by creating a Tree of Support which will use children's painted handprints as the branches.

The painted tree will be displayed at City Focus next Thursday where locals can show their support by painting a handprint to be used on the tree, and donating to the Child Cancer Foundation.

Porse programme tutor Steff Kidd said it was good for the children to get involved at such a young age.

"We have been encouraging the children to put their donations in the box after they make their handprints.

"We hope to raise as much as we can for the Child Cancer Foundation and have a goal of $800," she said.
