Work has started on painting new ground art along the Haupapa Street stretch of Rotorua's new Green Corridor.
The artwork will take Green Corridor users on a journey along a simulated dirt pathway intertwined with a stylised painted blue stream, with painted bridges for 'crossing' the water at various points.
The stream starts at the Tutanekai-end of the Haupapa St section of the corridor in the form of a spring, and is 'fed' along the pathway by stylised waterfalls. When finished it is hoped that waterfalls will appear to be cascading down the sides of some buildings along the street.
A variety of flora and fauna will be painted along the corridor surface, including plants, fish, eels and birds, as well as stylised mud pools.
The work has been designed specifically for the Green Corridor by local artist and graphic designer Glenn McLeary.
