Rotorua's Danny Lee has missed the cut on a difficult course at the 115th US Open Championship.
Lee last played in a golf major as an amateur, during The Masters in 2009, and qualified for his second major to date during the US Open at Chambers Bay in Washington, which started yesterday.
He shot an eight-over par 78 yesterday morning in round one, then backed that up with a four-over par 74 early this morning. He now sits at 12-over par for a share of 145th.
Players are still out on the course finishing their second round, but the projected cut looks to be around four-over par, such is the difficulty of the course.
Lee was not the only player to struggle with the course, with the likes of Tiger Woods (US) finishing 16-over par for his two rounds and Rickie Fowler (US) carding 14-over par for his two rounds.
