The Bay of Plenty men's golf team were knocked out at the semifinal stage at the 2015 Toro Interprovincials at the Invercargill Golf Club.
The Bay lost to Otago 3-2 in their semifinal on Saturday, before Otago went on to lose the final to Waikato 4-1 later the same day.
The Bay last won the interprovincial in 2012 and came close to making another final at the weekend.
But it was to be Waikato's tournament who won back-to-back titles.
In what could be described as more typical Southland conditions, rain was a feature of the final as Waikato won in convincing fashion 4-1.
Looking back at the semifinal, Waikato showed why they are a champion team, being behind late into the match to fight back and win with the final putt.
Waikato were led by their No1 and player of the tournament Luke Toomey who sunk a 25-foot putt to make a simply superb birdie on the last and steal victory from a dejected Luke Brown of Northland.
