Disabled sportspeople in Rotorua and Taupo will benefit from a new fund set up in memory of Rotorua surgeon Ross Bohm.
Mr Bohm worked at the Rotorua Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Southern Cross QE for almost 30 years as an orthopaedic surgeon, and had a strong interest in disabled sportspeople.
He spent 19 years as the voluntary consultant to the New Zealand Para Olympic team, attending three Olympic Games as the team doctor.
Mr Bohm's wife Barbara Bohm established the fund with the Geyser Community Foundation to honour the memory of her late husband, who passed away in 2011.
"Ross was particularly interested in establishing a fund with the Geyser Community Foundation to support disabled sportspeople in the local community and I was very pleased to be able to do this in his memory," Mrs Bohm said.
