The largest fireworks display seen in Rotorua will be one of the highlights of the three-day GLO Festival, the city's family friendly New Year's celebration.
The weather is also predicted to turn around in time for New Year's Eve, with the latest MetService forecast expecting sunny, clear skies for December 31 and the first two days of January.
The events start tomorrow with the Buskers and Bazaar, a street busking competition and market. The section of Tutanekai St that runs between Eruera St and Haupapa St will be closed to traffic for the event.
On Monday, the New Year's Eve festivities begin with the Party in the Park from 6pm at the Village Green, a family friendly event with entertainment by Rodger Cunningham, Rotorua Has Talent contestants, the winner of the busking competition, Haylee Nitschke, Kelly Makiha and the Jamus Webster Band.
The party will be headlined by chart topping band Titanium.
