Firefighters are at an empty Owhata kindergarten checking if it's safe after a spade broke a domestic gas line.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said it didn't appear to be a major problem but firefighters were making sure it was safe while they waited for workers to arrive.
He said the kindergarten was on Alastair Ave in Owhata.
Central Kids Kindergarten Rotorua East is on that road. The kindergarten is currently unoccupied as they have been moved to a base at Lynmore School following flood damage earlier in the year.
