Fire crews were called to battle a blaze in Whakatāne overnight.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said they were notified of a house fire at a vacant house on Hotene St at 11.30pm.
Two crews were sent to the scene and extinguished the fire, he said.
A police media spokeswoman said they also attended and the circumstances of the fire were under investigation.
