During one of the elections in GB during the reign of Maggie Thatcher, only about 37 per cent of the electorate bothered to vote! Make it compulsory!

Sure did! Special vote on Friday afternoon. Voting should be made compulsory like in ausie. You don't vote you get fined.

Citizens are to patrol Rotorua streets in a bid to make the central city safer. We asked our readers on Facebook what they think.

They honestly think thats going to work? I mean really kids these days have little or No respect for anyone. The young ones are rude, abusive, disrespectful foul mouth wannabe gangsters!! They can try but i see this being a big flop just like that Mariah Carey movie Glitter.

I think it's good. It's better than nothing. At least people will be around to inform cops if there's something bad going on. A presence is often all it takes, as suburban retailers USED to see with community constables ...

I remember the days when Rotorua had skateworld, it was so cool the kids had a place to go and have fun. It was an all round fun place.
