We asked readers of our Facebook page is kids' rugby match points should be capped to protect teams from being thrashed:
Pera Mason hahah my brothers team got a hiding 127- 0 and while the other team were doing the 3 cheers bit at the end, they did a team plank. how about that
Suzi Heke No, we need to breed winners, not partipaters! OMG we don't want the ABs to participate!
Richard McLean Worked in kids soccer, encouraging kids to keep playing sport, for years, with scores capped at 10. One team consoled selves with "score only 10", other team excited with "but we really got 12!"
Rahiri Mason Yea that would be ridiculous. Like ripper rugby
Lisa Adlam its a bunch of PC bullcrap, kids need to learn to lose because in life you do and sometimes not by a little bit, teaching kids to strive and fight for what seems like an impossibility teaches them the ability of endurance and thats what nz ...is famous for, if kids give up a sport because they are not winning then what are they learning? that if the mountain is to big dont bother climbing? Not to mention it is punishing a winning team for what? doing what they can to win, its like saying ok guys we have a 35 pt margin any try or kick after this doesnt count, gee imagine how that would feel? Also it means in the competition the game will have to change because it often comes down to points for and against. We are famous for our rugby breeding, why change something that works, the rugby union need to harden up!
Snow Webster I AGREE LEAVE IT ALONE.......GEES THEY HAVE ALREADY RUINED THE ADULT GAME WHILE TAKE THE FUN FROM THE KIDS,WIN OR LOSE,IT ABOUT PLAYIN AN ENJOYIN..WIN OR LOSE,ONLY THE PARENTS REMEMBER THE SCORES....HAHHAA
