This year's Rotorua Careers Expo has received phenomenal feedback on its first day, organisers say.
The annual event, organised by the Rotorua Careers Expo Trust, started yesterday and will continue today with a fresh round of seminars, exhibitors and local business representatives.
Trust chairwoman Sheryl Hewitson said organisers had alreadyreceived a lot of positive feedback.
"We've had members of the public and exhibitors come up to us saying this year's expo has really positive vibes which is great to hear."
She said organisers were pleased with how the first day had gone. "All the seminars have been informative and the exhibitors seem happier this year. We've got a wide range of tertiary providers and businesses this year so all bases have been covered.
"The second day is always the biggest day so we are really gearing up to get a mad rush of people through the doors."
Local teen Kiana McCormack, 16, said after leaving school at a young age, the expo was a great way to see what her study options were.
"It's been awesome being able to go around the stalls and see what career options are available. It's handy to have them all in the same place because some of the stalls I wouldn't have even known about."
She said after having a baby she put her studies on hold and was now looking to get back into it.
"I think I want to do dentistry or nursing, I can't decide, but it's good to know I have options and it's also good to be able to talk to people about how to get back into study."
Vienna Paul, 16, also left school early and said she came to the expo to see how she could study photography.
"I've always had a passion for it [photography] so I decided to come to the expo to see how to get into it.
"I wouldn't know where to start looking if it was left up to me so I'm glad we have something like the careers expo to help people get into the jobs they want."
