Mr McClay stuck by his comments yesterday saying Mr Harawira gave as good as he got.
"I'm sure he won't worry about it," he said.
Mr Harawira attacked Mr McClay after he introduced his gang patch legislation a few years ago which would see all gang patches banned from public and Government-owned buildings.
At the time Mr Harawira also said Mr McClay was "an idiot" and a "foolish dickhead" for introducing the policy.
Mr Harawira could not be reached for comment yesterday.
But, Mr McClay said he was very proud of his election victory and was off to Wellington today for a National Party caucus meeting.
"I was celebrating on Sunday, but Monday we are straight back to work."
He said he was looking forward to working again with Maori Party leader Te Ururoa Flavell, new Rotorua list MP Fletcher Tabuteau and Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick, who were working together to get Easter Trading laws changed in the district.
"I've had a very good working relationship with Te Ururoa for the past six years and will continue to do so."
Mr McClay was also full of praise for Mr Tabuteau.
"Fletcher and I are both focused on Rotorua, I have spoken to him many times and we both think we can work well together to make Rotorua the best place it can be.
"I'll be meeting Fletcher for a coffee today. The first few weeks in Parliament can be quite daunting, but we get on really well.
"We are both Rotorua residents and have a lot of family and history here - family values are very important for both of us."
He said there were good opportunities for Rotorua to grow economically in the future and all three of the region's MPs would be looking to capitalise on those under a stable National Party-led government.
"I enjoyed the campaign, we stayed positive and focused, but were a little disappointed with the attitude of some Mana supporters here, especially their attacks against the elderly.
"But, I'm looking forward to getting back to work and I'm really grateful for the continued support from the wider Rotorua community."
