Editorial: Rotorua leaders to be recognised

Nominations for this year's Rotorua Community Leadership Awards have closed and it's been great to see such an outstanding response.

Awards will be presented at a special function during Leadership Week towards the end of June.

The Rotorua Community Leadership Awards are run by Mayor Kevin Winters in association with the Sir Peter Blake Trust, The Daily Post, Rotorua Trust, Rotorua Chamber of Commerce and the Rotorua District Council.

The awards were held for the first time last year. In 2011, awards were presented to 16 leaders in the community across a variety of categories.

The awards differ from the Rotorua District Council Community Awards which recognise outstanding voluntary contributions (though one of those recipients, Alexis LewGor, has been a Leadership Award-winner).

With a huge number of high-quality nominations this year, it will be tough for the judges to whittle their selection down.

Congratulations to all nominees. The fact your name has been put forward means you're already making a difference.
