Maybe we've had it too good for too long in Rotorua.
It's hard to argue against moves to make our roads safer, even if that means it will take us a bit longer to get to our destinations.
Living in a regional centre we're lucky to enjoy relatively light traffic flows which allow us to get from A to B in no time.
But that's not good enough for some, it seems.
Five of this district's worst 20 crash sites are along Fenton St, which has seen nearly 100 crashes in the past five years.
The zigzag intersection at Ti St and Malfroy Rd has been the scene of 39 of those crashes.
This is a busy road, meaning a good proportion of us use it regularly, so it's good to see moves to make this route safer.
Yes, the proposal to install roundabouts along Fenton St at Robertson, Marguerita and Devon Sts will mean that what was a cruisy rat run through the south of the city becomes stop-start affair.
But think again about how difficult some of those intersections can be, especially when turning right across the line of traffic.
Think again how adding a few minutes to our journey would mean nothing to a commuter in a bigger centre who sits in traffic for ages morning and night.
And roundabouts with their better flow are far more preferable to traffic lights.
We all may think we're great drivers - but only some are right in that assumption.
And some of us may only find out we're wrong the hard way.
