I'm tempted to create some type of weird and random dance and put it to an equally random (but catchy) song and see what happens.

Gangnam Style by Psy is the latest dance craze/odd song to make number one on the New Zealand singles charts after going viral on the internet with more than 340 million views on YouTube.

This is definitely not the first time something like this has happened - remind yourself of other songs/dances which have had the similar successes such as the Macarena, the Bird Dance, the Ketchup Song and the dougie - they're all songs or dances that many of us know, have heard of or even tried out either successfully or unsuccessfully.

I think I have given all of the above a try over the years.

The Gangnam Style dance is like a horse-galloping dance - your legs move similar to a gallop and then your hands are positioned similar to how you might ride a horse and throw a lasso. It sounds silly right? Well it may be but there's no denying that this silliness has attracted a lot of attention around the world.

Up until two weeks ago, I had no idea what Gangnam Style was about - much to the surprise of those telling me.

But as soon as I was told to watch it, I instantly gave it a go and, in the last week, I have even tried it out in the newsroom for amusement purposes while computers were down.

Actually, there have been a few people in our newsroom to give it a go in the office or at home.

Love it or hate it, most of us know about it. Psy has appeared on The Ellen Show and given superstar Britney Spears a lesson on how to do the dance. There are even loads of parody video clips on YouTube as well.

There's been plenty of comments on Twitter and Facebook too and people have also been known to try it out while out on the town.

It's amazing how something like a dance can become the latest craze - even something that seems so silly or easy to do.

If you don't know about it yet, check out YouTube and educate yourself so you know what people are talking about when they say Gangnam Style.

Also check out The Daily Post's website, and see Rotorua residents having a go at Gangnam Style.

I'm now trying to think of a new crazy dance that I can create.
