In four days 7 Days will come to town. Cue plenty of fart jokes perhaps?

For those who don't know, 7 Days is a TV3 comedy panel show which targets the week's news. Its host and panellists are comedians and they can be merciless as they dissect the events and newsmakers of the previous seven days.

Who knows what they'll find to focus on as they visit our fair city, but lead funnyman Jeremy Corbett has said they'll be getting stuck into Rotorua.

"It's all just entertainment, nothing personal," he told The Daily Post.

Maybe not personal, but I think we can expect a fair bit of stick from the visiting stars.

I'm sure they can come up with something better than the odd stink joke about our city's signature aroma - but there's bound to be at least one mention.

Ah well, it's nice to be reminded about the smell of home now and again. You tend to get so used to it the only times you notice it are passing a certain corner on Eruera St or travelling down Whaka way.

There hasn't been too much to laugh about lately. You'll have seen the evidence in these pages.

So a good therapeutic crack-up is in order, even if it is at our own expense. And I'm not talking about the price tag.

That said, those who can't afford to see 7 Days, what with tough times and Christmas expenses looming, could do worse than checking out Guy and Rose instead.

Guy Williams and Rose Matafeo are also comedians well known for their TV antics.

And they are also visiting Rotorua next week, performing with a koha cover charge.

TV comedy seems to be in the midst of a new golden age, with the popularity of 7 Days and its Friday night counterpart Jono and Ben at Ten.

Williams, despite not appearing in the title, is the true star of JABAT, and his appearance with his partner, Matafeo, at the Linton Park Community Hall on Saturday will be must-see for anyone who appreciates offbeat, oddball humour. And maybe the odd fart joke.
