A "weak" earthquake has been recorded near Murupara.
The 3.5 magnitude quake was centred 30km north-east of the township, at 63km deep.
Other small quakes have been recorded in the region this week.
A 1.8 was recorded 5km north of Taupo on Monday at 4.30pm, following a 3.2 25km northwest of Taupo at 2.51am that morning.
A 4.1 quake was recorded 75km north of White Island on Monday at 1.31pm.
