An earthquake of moderate intensity was felt by over 50 people in Rotorua early this morning, according to GeoNet.
The earthquake happened at 3.26am, had a magnitude of 3.4, a depth of 8km and was located 25km south of Rotorua.
According to GeoNet there were a total of 56 reports of the earthquake.
