Work on the $8.1 million roundabout south of Rotorua at Hemo Gorge is progressing well.
An aerial photo taken at the weekend by Rotorua's Brian Holden with a drone shows the latest at the site.
The intersection, on the corner of Old Taupo Rd and State Highway 5, had previously been the site of several crashes, prompting the work to be carried out.
The project should be completed by the end of the year and will also feature a 12m high sculpture designed by an artist from the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute/Te Puia.
Readers on the Rotorua Daily Post Facebook page have said they already like the new intersection.
