Rangatahi Courts aren't solely reserved for Maori youth offenders.
In Rotorua, Judge Louis Bidois has dealt with an assortment of nationalities on the marae - including a Croatian.
However, it's essential those who want to appear in the Rangatahi Court are willing to embrace tikanga Maori (Maori practices and protocol).
All attending are called on to the marae with a karanga (cry of welcome), take part in a pohiri (ritual ceremony of encounter) and, when asked to speak, give their pepeha (self-introduction) by outlining their heritage to their maunga (mountain), rivers of their tupuna (ancestors) and the waka (canoe that brought them to where they are today).
For one Dutch woman this was the airline KLM.
