Rotorua Youth Centre members have been able to "kick it real style" with international visitors versed in the culture of hip-hop.
Professor Frederick Gooding jnr, lecturer of Ethnic Studies at Northern Arizona University and 10 of his students travelled to New Zealand and stopped by Rotorua's youth centre on Tuesday to explore the integration of hip-hop in Maori culture.
Youth worker and programme co-ordinator at the youth centre, Jerome Namana, said they were excited to learn about hip-hop in the American culture.
"It's not every day we get a professor from America wanting to visit us and pass on his knowledge," Mr Namana said.
"Having that cultural interaction is a good experience for adults and even better for youth. It shows hip-hop culture exists all over the place and connects us all."
