Rotorua Daily Post chief photographer Stephen Parker has been named a finalist in two categories of the 2017 Sir Terry McLean National Sports Journalism Awards, sponsored by Sport New Zealand.
Parker is a finalist for the Community Sports/Recreational/Adventure Photography Portfolio award, up against Robyn Edie of the Southland Times and Chris Symes of Media Images.
He is also up for Best Single Photograph, up against Andrew Cornaga, John Cowpland, Symes, Edie and Dave Lintott.
In September, Parker was named best regional sports photographer at the Panpa 2017 Newspaper of the Year Awards for his underwater photo Para-Swimmer, featuring Siobhan Terry, which forms part of his five-image portfolio for these awards.
Peter White, who writes for the Rotorua Daily Post's sister paper the Bay of Plenty Times, is a finalist for the Best Provincial/Community Journalist award.
